Pontardawe railway station

Pontardawe Railway Station was a railway station, located on the Swansea Vale Railway that ran along the River Tawe and which closed in 1964.

It was situated next to the Gwachel public house and the Victorian bridge over the Tawe.

The station was used primarily to transport coal. The station closed as the coal mining industry in Pontardawe was declining in the 1960s.
